On Colbert, Glenda Jackson recounted a note in the published script they used, from Albee. The play is about his adoptive mother. The paraphrase is "In life, no one liked her. In my play, everyone does. What have I done?"
The play is not especially good - how does the forst act relate to the rest of the play - why arent there two different actors in Act 1 with the Mom? Makes no sense. I for one enjoyed all three women's performances, though Ms Pill seemed the odd one out, in a slightly different play. I didny sense a strong director hand - Jackson and Metcalf seemed to be doing what they wanted to do, using some flashy things from their actor tool kits.
