...I met someone from the administration of Procter's a few years ago at the late lamented Carnegie Deli (we were two singles plunked together at the same table) and he gave me the impression that Procter's had positioned itself as a destination to tech national tours BEFORE they went out. They wouldn't necessarily play the theatre for audiences, just do their two weeks of tech (or whatever) and then off the show would go.

As stated below, it's close enough to grab a train and be there in four hours.

And apparently it can reproduce many different sizes and shapes of backstage configuration to replicate the various houses a tour would play.

He said that in a small market like the Capital Region that that had been the lifeline that had saved the theatre.
