My theater wish list for 2019

Unfortunately the same themes keep popping up on the off-Broadway stage over & over & over again in 2018. Feels like one big re-run (yawn). Why not produce shows that bring people together & provide entertainment instead (and bigger box office receipts)?

A few shows I'd love to see:
(1) St Elmo's Fire - The Musical (on Broadway). Can't believe it's been several decades since that huge hit came out. I believe tons of people would pay Broadway prices to see it, especially with big-name actors. Love so many of the songs. And the plot was so meaningful about different types of people who are lost souls, trying to find their way.
(2) Pretty in Pink - The Show (on Broadway). And who better to star in it live than Molly Ringwald? She can really belt and I *loved* her voice in Tick Tick Boom at the (now defunct) Jane St Theater. So many people like me grew up with her movies & would pay anything to see her live again. I believe this would be a huge hit on Broadway.
(3) And for something more risque (off-Broadway) - Let's have my favorite off-Broadway theater company The New Group collaborate with Thomas Bradshaw again. Loved his Burning and Intimacy. Was going wild with delight when I saw all the "positions" people were taking when they were fully nude. Maybe he can write something this time about mild-mannered teachers during the day. But at night they get together and their wild side comes out at the S&M club.

I'd like to see something brilliant, but odious == like a play about Trump written by TONY KUSHNER and starring Kevin Spacey.
