There are plenty of shows that could be done, but sometimes some of the more obscure titles, titles which denizens of this board most likely have at least heard of, don't sell out to the general public. Things like "The Golden Apple" and "Juno" had quite a number of empty seats, and there are reports that even "Me and My Girl" had seats available. It's possible they thought "Me and My Girl" would be a safe sellout, too. I also believe that certain shows when pitched to decision-makers like Jack Viertel are summarily dismissed; perhaps they have been raised before and discussed, but personal taste does amount to a sieve which keeps certain shows from being done. Also, in the case of Jerry Herman, it has been said that Herman is holding out for a Broadway revival of his shows and doesn't want them to go the Encores route.
