I like the quote "The delivery of her speech seems designed for the Berkeley ... audience." We know who the target audience is.

It'd be interesting to see how this sells at NYTW, given the quote "The problems here are many... in combination they are fatal".

The reference wasn't so much about the perceived politics of Berkeley Rep patrons, but rather that her delivery seemed tuned to a theatre audience and not - as would seem appropriate to the character - to an audience of American Legion members who would be judging a contest such as this. (I was on my college's speech and debate team, and judged high school debate contests, so I am perhaps a bit more attuned to how teens in that situation usually sound!)
