SpongeBob lottery and rush questions
Posted by: ARReith1982 10:41 pm EDT 05/17/18

I'm not sure if we're allowed to post stuff like this....so I apologize if I'm breaking a rule.

Just for fun, I've entered the SpongeBob lottery 5 times recently. I've won four of those times!! Is it just not popular? For those who have won and seen the show, where have your seats been?

Also, for those who go for the rush tickets, when does the line begin AND where are the $30 seats located?

Where have folks sat for TDF seats?

Yes, a trip is in the works....

Thanks in advance!

I work around the corner from the theatre, and when I'm on my way in (most weekdays between 9 and 9:30) there are usually only a handful of people lined up for rush -- this morning I think there were three or four around 9am. No idea what rush is like on the weekend.

K6 - 8, far house right orchestra

Second time visit since previews. Show is in great shape, though on a 2 show day (Thur!) I think as a whole the cast was a little tired.
Not really knowing the franchise well, I followed names/plot better this time 'round.

Confectionaires delight.

This week (Spring Road Conference) in particular is a terrific week to see new shows without nom'd folks calling-out.

Lottery seats ($42) vary but are frequently in the rear or far side orch. A great deal for the price.

Rush tickets are $30 in the mezzanine and balcony. They seem to most frequently be in the rear mezzanine but can be better. Also a good deal for the price. They want $75 for rush in orchestra, which is less of a deal, unless you get a really prime location.

Tdf seats ($47) vary but generally tend to be in the orchestra. A bit of a tossup depending on where exactly they seat you, but likely the best deal of the three, especially since they’re a sure thing in advance. Plus, this is the rare show that actually might work better from row T than row D.

Also, why did you enter the lottery 5 times if you weren’t going to redeem the tickets to any of the performances?

Because I was curious to see how easy it was to win. I had heard it was easy...

I went to a Q&A with Gavin Lee this afternoon attended by fans and they all said sitting closer in the orchestra is a wonderful experience because of the view of the set and stage business. My SpongeBob seat through TDF was way in the back. I enjoyed it but I could tell I was missing some things.

One of my favorite moments from the show was seeing all the pirates waiting on the top of the stairs to the men's room before the start of Act 2.

I’ve seen the show a few times from a few spots. You gain a few small details sitting up close, but to me you lose more in the trade off (largely around stage picture). Oddly enough, my favorite spots were rear orch and front balcony — though the show is great from anywhere.

IMHO a show like this is best seen from another theater.
