| For me, Anderson was a better singer, Ambrose a better actress. | |

| ...of musical theatre understudies when the star is not cast for their vocal talent? I tend to think it is. The examples that come immediately to my mind are Glenn Close in Sunset and many-a-celebrity Sally Bowles in the Cabaret revival(s)--not so much when it degenerated into stunt casting (Debbie Gibson), but more when they were still casting actresses known for their dramatic chops like Natasha Richardson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Mary McCormack. |

| I saw the understudy last night and thought she was fabulous. But I have not seen Ambrose so I cannot compare. | |

| I saw Kerstin Anderson as Maria in the national tour of Sound of Music. She was excellent. This is her first Broadway show. She was still a college student when she was cast as Maria. Looking at Wikipedia, she is currently 23 years old. She probably appears to be much younger on stage than either Ambrose or Hadden-Patton. I wonder how much that changes the dynamic between Eliza and Henry Higgins. |

| Someone on the BroadwayWorld message board says Kerstin Anderson went on for all 3 shows and got positive reviews. | |
