| I bolted from DESCRIBE THE NIGHT at the first opportunity (i.e. intermission number one). If the OBIE committee deems this the best New American Play over the past season, all I can say is: assemble a new committee. I was no fan of GUARDS AT THE TAJ either, a play by the same writer that also received this award a few seasons back. I don't get it. With so much outstanding new work produced during the 2017-2018 season, the decision to bestow this honor to DESCRIBE THE NIGHT is absurd. And, yes, I know I didn't see the entire play. |
