He was a pivotal player in the tumultuous opening night of THE CRADLE WILL ROCK. His role was Junior Mister, but when Edward Hemmer, who was playing Reverend Salvation didn't make the trek to the Venice Theatre, Sherman filled in for that role. And I think another smaller piece. And Sherman's quote (which I'm paraphrasing becaue I'm away from my books) that he wouldn't have had the nerve to stand up in the house and start singing, had Olive Stanton not set an example for them, is often mentioned in accounts of that night.
