It always fascinated me as a kid that when I found out that Lansbury had beat Loudon for this award and then beat her again for Sweeney Todd and then Loudon replaced her. (there is a Merv Griffin show on youtube where Zsa Zsa Gabor and Loudon are the guests. Merv discusses why Ballroom flopped a bit and then Zsa Zsa goes on about how much she hated Sweeney. Loudon very diplomatically says she liked it. I wonder if she already was approached as a replacement.)
Such a pity Louden didn't work in her later years like Angela is doing. I'd have loved to have seen her in something. |
