Hiram Sherman also appeared in Jerome Kern's legendary flop (with the glorious score), "Very Warm for May," in 1939. He played Ogden Quiller, an eccentric director who is trying to produce an "avant-garde" musical. It's a very funny role. Jon Lovitz played the same part in a concert version many years ago.
