Correct me if I'm wrong - no one died. It's a tragedy but only to a degree... and not the degree where it would be hard to imagine using it as the fake reason you parted ways with a musical. But also it's not like the show's PR team decided to do this... IF it happened, it would surely have been Kazee's choice to deal with it that way because it generally makes an actor look bad to be replaced, even if it was just a realization that they weren't the right fit for a key role in a big show with lots of money riding on the right fits for all the roles.

You don't have to be cynical to believe that his family situation would be used as the reason he's not going forward with the show.
