The "nude scene" (short as it is) has always been optional, and it's not really crucial to the show. But yes, the sexual frankness all over the show IS crucial - as is the racial frankness. I can't imagine how they'll get around that. I predict it'll be such a "clean" production that they might as well call it Shampoo lol.
I really felt that the often bumbling Zadan and Meron finally got it right with Hairspray and Superstar in terms of trusting the material and essentially smart casting. (They seem to have a blind spot for leading men - a hopelessly dull and fey Link, and a Jesus who couldn't sing the role well enough - but otherwise I think they essentially got both shows right.) Why are they picking a show they're going to have to be forced to extensively rewrite for network TV?
But of course we'll all tune in, in the hopes that they make it work well...;-) |
