Thank you for the recommendations. I just watched a few bits and pieces of the 1968 Tonys, including the supporting actor in a musical award (and it's very odd that no one comes up to receive the award for the absent Hiram Sherman), and I was so enjoying what I saw. I seem to recall that I've never even seen this entire Tonys because my parents made me go to bed before it was over. I will have to watch the whole thing.
And while I'm not as sure as you that it was a complete surprise to Balsam, he certainly seemed incredibly happy to win. And, yeah, what an actor he was.
I've never read any of Houseman's books. I'm sure they're fascinating. Maybe one day I will get them out of the library (if the library even still has them). |
