| All excellent points. Thanks for taking the time to post. After seeing this play with a friend whose son has just graduated from college and has still not settled on a career and is living at home, and who said she felt she was seeing huge chunks of her recent life on stage, I happened to listen to a podcast about a Rwandan refugee who received a full scholarship to Yale. That seems to me to be a wonderful thing. But I wondered how the teenage girl in the play would have felt about it. How easily our present circumstances turn deserving and well meaning people against each other for the reasons you cite, e.g., Why isn't a high quality higher education a right and not a privilege? |
