| I really have to disagree. I do think that the dialogue is not the strongest point of the play but it is intricately plotted and the characters are surprisingly true to the novel and to the spirit of the Harry Potter stories. The teenage angst is not dopey and the father son issues while treated on a somewhat youth fiction level are not banal. I don't find the story unnecessarily repetitive. Does it deserve Best Play. I don't know. It has not been a great season on Broadway for new plays. "The Children" probably comes closest to being deserving of that award but it too is not without drawbacks. |
