For those people that get very upset about patrons using their devices in the theatre during the show, I think a digital playbill would be a nightmare. It would only encourage people to refer to their lighted phones to check in on the cast list, etc, during the show. It also requires people to bring their devices to the theatre, which not everyone may want to do if they don't otherwise need them.

I'm all for saving paper - and in fact, it would be nice if theatres did include a PDF of their programs on their websites, so that one could refer to them in general - but they should NOT replace paper programs at the theatre itself - unless there was some way to deny access to the site during the show. And that might get very complicated and not worth the technology.
