well I am not prepared to buy into all that. I just think that critics don't like stuff that's crap, whether well meaning crap or commercially manufactured. It has always been thus. The bigger issue for critics is not what's produced on Broadway but the fact that the broader industry is dying and the pink slip is in everyone's future. The Times is just stalling the inevitable for a bit, as its publisher has acknowledged. The best criticism out there right now is free and online, not behind paywalls.
