This documentary aired (at least here) last night on Great Performances and I am finding it really fascinating - I'm only through the first hour so far.
The archival footage and still photos of the old Metropolitan Opera House, the people involved in that one and those involved in building the new one, (including drawings of the many iterations of the new opera house) and all of Lincoln Center, plus the area that was torn down to make room for LC, are just incredible to see. Not to mention the living testimony of Leontyne Price. The documentary is directed by Susan Froemke.
And I've never even been in the Metropolitan Opera House, sad to say.
I think the documentary will re-air- June 1 in some areas. |
