| I think after a period of time, people realized that while there are fine things in the piece, it is an unfinished work which the director decided to freeze and not modify after Jonathan Larson's death. The movie flopped, and while it is produced, I think it has not the stature it was accorded when it premiered. It has become a somewhat dated period piece, but yes, a good vehicle for schools (and presumably younger pop stars for tv) with many roles for younger actors and some splendid numbers. |
