| I think Bing thought some other impresario like Sol Hurok or whoever else was big at the time might find a use for it, perhaps presenting touring and/or foreign opera campanies' tours. The acoustics were supposed to have been great, even if sight lines in many seats were not. It could have been used for concertizing as well, even for Broadway shows that needed a big orchestra (and wouldn't have to have sets changed from day to day). |
