| I would love to know how actors of color feel about these roles in our current day, especially as there are written alternatives in the script. Are these roles now seen as pandering to stereotypes, or at least much more now in our current culture than before? Are Asian actresses playing Connie loath to have to deal with the "Year Of The Chicken" and "King And I" stuff, or does it matter in the long run? I myself tend to think these roles have not aged well, even if they were based on what actual cast members had said in the workshops? |
