I used to love her on a short lived Tony Randall sitcom she did with him and Rachel Roberts. Miss Rubner I think was her name. She was his uptight secretary.

She was also in "Calamity Jane" alongside Doris Day, and also repeated her Broadway role as Amy in the still very hard to see film version of "Where's Charley?". She was married to the late actor George Gaynes of "Wonderful Town", 'Out of This World", etc. RIP.

I only saw WHERE'S CHARLEY? once -- on TV, many years ago -- but my memory is that McLerie's performance is the best thing in it. (And Ray Bolger in that role, at least on screen, is totally bizarre.)
