| ABC dropped it, but another studio might pick it up. The shows ratings were too good and as bad as her tweet is it may not kill it. (and to be honest I think political correctness can go too far for tasteless jokes pandering to her base—I do hold the president to a different standard than actors) looks like Kathy griffin is finally going back on stage after a year banishment for her tasteless beheading of pres trump. So Metcalf might not be available, but a new studio might mean new contracts and she could pass. | |

| It's done. No actors would participate. Advertisers wouldn't participate. Unless Roseanne was replaced with Sandy Duncan. | |

| the show would still need advertisers . The current set was calling ABC to threaten departure if the network didn't do something. | |

| For an actor to join any production on Broadway (or off) the actor has to be approved by the Director, the author, and the producer. Can you imagine there is a world in which Joe Mantello, Scott Rudin, and the Albee estate would approve Roseanne Barr appearing in this play? I think not. And - oh yes- the character is rather aristocratic, Roseanne ain't that, and she could never act that. | |

| I don't think anybody for a moment seriously was suggesting Roseanne join this (or any Broadway) production. for one thing, the lines outside the theater would not be ticket buyers. | |

| ... it's done. No network is going to be willing to publicly condone calling black people "apes". That's not political correctness; it's human decency. | |

| Another studio might indeed pick it up but a new network would include new contracts and it is doubtful that Metcalf would sign back on. Similarly Sara Gilbert is not going to damage her brand. The show has already lost Wanda Sykes following this morning's tweet. I don't think Whitney Cummings would sign back on either. All of these people will get jobs however. Unfortunately it will be in television not in theater where we could use such bright names. The people I feel sorry for are people like Lecy Gorensen and Michael Fishman and the new writers and cast members who thought they had settled into a nice multi year gig and now find the rug pulled out from underneath them. It is like if all of a sudden Harry Potter announced it was closing at the end of next week. The cast, the crew and all those new enthusiastic staff members at the Lyric would be confused and beside themselves. | |
