Saw this at the Kennedy Center with my husband 3-4 years ago. It seemed to me, Tiler Peck, a wonderful ballet dancer, was almost too old for the role then.
The show doesn't ever quite land. Or at least it really didn't in DC. There were rumors about it moving to New York, but it just wasn't ready. It wanted to be Sunday in the Park with Degas, but the book, direction and choreography just weren't good enough.
I particularly liked Peck (who I'm assuming is still being asked to play a young girl), Gaines and Luker and the actress who played Mary Cassatt, I don't remember her name - sorry. |
