Back from Carousel tonight. Renee Fleming was in the show through A Real Nice Clambake. Jessie Mueller stopped the applause at the curtain call to thank the woman who stepped in (understudy?) but did not say what happened to Ms. Fleming. Anyone know?

I can't answer your question but I have a one of my own: Was the understudy Rosena M. Hill Jackson--a fabulous singer--who sang "You'll Never Walk Alone?"

Based on a report from someone who was there (Hi, Seth), yes, it was Ms. Hill Jackson. She took over in Act II just in time for "You'll Never Walk Alone."
