| The basics: first act ended 9:30, show ended 11:05. Traditional costume, minimal sets The performances were uniformly strong, show is in great shape for such an early preview. Some minor mic issues but that always seems to happen at the Delacorte. Corey Stoll has such a naturalistic delivery; his Iago is quite memorable. I'm less familiar with the actor playing Othello but he too was very strong. Special praise for Alison Wright as Emilia. She was captivating & I love the fact that I saw her on the night The Americans aired their series finale, as she had the memorable role of Martha on that show. It was a lovely night, on the cool side. Glad I had my heavy sweatshirt. For the first half hour or so, there were thousands of bugs swarming in the lights despite the breeze. It seems once dusk ended, they were gone. There was the faintest of mists that started right before intermission. I didn't even feel it, but could see it in the lights. It ended just as intermission ended. We walked up to the standby line at 7:45 & were rewarded with front row center tickets. As is always the case, go early in the run & standby is the way to go. |

| When I have gone standby I have often gotten seats far from the stage. Is it better to show up close to curtain? Is the standby line still at the usual place at 7:30? | |

| Yes, same place. There were about 80 people on line ahead of us when we got there at 7:45 last night. We all got tickets and the couple behind us got tickets too. I'm guessing the entire line got to see the show last night. | |

| I truly find it to be an absolute crap shoot where you get to sit. It depends to a large degree on the number of corporate donor seats that go unfilled near curtain time. I always do standby, and I've been all over the house--often far back or to the side, but also front-row center for the all-female "Taming of the Shrew" and a few rows back for Meryl Streep in "Mother Courage." | |
