| STEVE BLANCHARD WILL JOIN THE CAST OF OFF-BROADWAY’S PERFECT CRIME Steve Blanchard, well known as Broadway’s longest running Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has joined the cast of Off-Broadway’s longest running play, PERFECT CRIME. Mr. Blanchard is already playing Detective Ascher, replacing Richard Shoberg in the role. In 1984, Steve made his Broadway debut in the short lived revival of The Three Musketeers directed by Tom O’Horgan. He then starred as Lancelot opposite Robert Goulet as Arthur, in the revival of Camelot. He is most known for being the longest running Beast in the history of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, portraying the character for over eight years. Off-Broadway, Steve created the role of Johnny in Johnny Guitar, The Creature in Frankenstein,and Captain Smollett in Treasure Island, directed by B.H. Barry. National Tours include Joseph Pulitzer in Disney’s Newsies, King Triton in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, The Phantom in Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera, Miles Gloriosus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum starring Mickey Rooney, and Pa in Little House on the Prairie opposite Melissa Gilbert as Ma. In Television, he’s appeared on House Of Cards, Madam Secretary, The Good Fight, Law & Order, Ed, Third Watch, Police Story, andSunset Beat. He can be heard on the original recordings of Johnny Guitar, Sundown, Frankenstein, and his own CD, Northbound Train. PERFECT CRIME is the Off-Broadway ‘whodunit’ that New York Magazine calls “a true New York murder mystery” and the New York Times calls “a crackling thriller” and recently celebrated a record breaking 31 years – continuing its record as the longest running play in NYC history. The perfect show for Law & Order and CSI fans, PERFECT CRIME is a funny, romantic thriller about a psychiatrist who has apparently killed her rich husband (until he shows up very much alive); the sexy Columbo-like detective who is trying to solve the supposed murderwhile falling in love with the primary suspect and the psychiatrist’s charming but crazy patient who has killed a few people himself.There are Agatha Christie - like twists and turns in the plot and there’s an “answer key” for audience members to review after the showif they are still trying to figure out what happened and how. PERFECT CRIME also features Catherine Russell who has starred in the show since its first performance and has never taken a sick day or vacation day in the past 31 years.
