Surprised Disney is giving us this. It's the event, the obligatory scene. I had assumed it would stay under wraps.

I haven't seen the show, but I now get the slightly meh response from many posters. It feels far more like the theme park edition. No, it's not bad. But...what? There's no real staging -- in contrast to the exercised, ground-traversing Elsa in the film -- just Elsa stage center, mostly stationary, moving up and down, and then a lot of repetitive animated stuff around her. Couldn't she build a piece of the castle? It has the look of a NYC Christmas window, a very expensive one. Not a bad thing. But theatrically, it's just oddly static, even the stairs basically go unused. Levy sings the song as expected, i.e. as it's supposed to be sung. I'm not a big fan of the elevated final note, but they need an act button.

The audience in the St. James cheered every rising and exploding fractal, like fireworks over the Hudson, so maybe it's thrilling in the house. On TV, and beautifully shot, it's not anything we haven't seen.
