| I don't think that they actually schedule Broadway people as guests. I get the impression that they just stop by. Also, it's only occasionally -- not on a regular basis. I've been watching the show 5 days a week for years so I've noticed whenever there is someone from Broadway on it. Mika is pretty theatre savvy and sees a fair amount of plays and musicals. One of Joe's sons did some acting in high school and college and began taking Joe to the theatre. Before that happened, Joe had not been much of a theatre enthusiast. Jordan Roth stops by more frequently than anyone else. I've seen Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, Nathan Lane, James Corden, Sally Field, and many other stage people drop by. However, the show is primarily a political and current events talk show -- it runs 3 hours in the morning. Chris Mathews used to have a Sunday morning talk show that occasionally discussed theatre. Andrew Sullivan was one of the regular commentators on the show and was really into theatre. Chris Hayes is good friends with Lin-Manuel Miranda -- they may have gone to school together so Lin has been on his nightly talk show several times. |
