I'm just agreeing with writerkev, at least how I read his post. I don't think they're just stopping by on their own.

I replied to writerkev this morning with an example of what I was talking about. Here's another one: Mon. morning, 6/08/09 -- Mika and Joe discuss the previous evening's Tonys, show a clip of Aaron Tveit performing something from Next to Normal (probably "I'm Alive"), praise the show, and lament his not receiving a Tony nomination. Later that week during one of their heated political discussions with other commentators, Joe is tapped on the shoulder by a male figure (unshaven, dressed in sweat pants, sleeves, backwards baseball cap) -- it's Tveit, who looks into the camera, waves, says "thanks, guys for the shout out", and departs. Joe then smiles, looks into the camera, and says "And that, ladies and gentlemen, was Aaron Tveit from Next to Normal". Maybe it was staged, but all 4 commentators looked surprised and then amused.

Again I have no idea of how booking and publicists work, but it seems improbable that MSNBC would send a limo to Queens and chauffer Tveit (dressed like he's heading to softball practice) to the studio for that type of 5-second appearance. Just sayin'.
