| You know who has a better sense of humor about this? Leslie Uggams. | |

| In addition to her tweet to Renee Fleming, quoted below, she also posted this one: "Who's up for a sing-along? Here are the lyrics. Just because it's #JuneJuneJoan https://genius.com/Richard-rodgers-june-is-bustin-out-all-over-lyrics" |

| I have to admit that I've never heard of this til I saw this thread today. Anyway, I researched it and watched the Rudetsky interview with Uggams where she told the story behind the story. It only increases my great admiration for Leslie Uggams-- she not only has an astonishing voice, she is a consummate pro with a wonderful sense of humor about herself and a sense of no-matter-what-the-show-must-go-on that is sorely missing from some other featured singers facing technical snafus (I'm looking at you Ms Carey....). Anyway, I loved seeing the clip and loved the story....and we should continue to celebrate the extraordinary Leslie Uggams in any way we can, including by celebrating this triumph of sheer showmanship. | |

| For those who don't already know, she has a role in the Deadpool movies, the second of which is in theaters now. She'd be a good Dolly, yes? | |

| I bet she'd be a terrific Dolly Levi...she was perfection as Muzzy in THROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE for most of the run when she replaced Sheryl Lee Ralph in the role. I actually preferred Uggams to Ralph. One of the times I went, I took my mother and Mom was thrilled to see Uggams, and told me all about watching her, billed as "Little" Leslie Uggams, on television when she was a girl. Mom very much admired one of Uggams' gowns in the show (I think her costumes were different from Ralph's) and I wrote to Martin Pakledinaz, in care of the production, to ask if there were any patterns available or anything that I could use to have something similar made for my mother as a gift. No response, of course. I wasn't really expecting one. | |

| I don't feel like Ms. Uggams has decided to take the internet posting videos of her annually as ridicule. @LeslieUggams 8:23 PM - 31 May 2018 Darling Renee Fleming @reneesmusings @CarouselBway Weird things can happen on June 1. I have your back. Tuck these lyrics up your sleeve. #JuneIsBustinOutAllOver #JuneJuneJoan #Huckadabejeepers |

| ... let's calm down, now. If anything, I think the "June" meme has raised Leslie's profile with many people. And she seems to have a good sense of humor about the situation. I don't know about y'all, but in my circle, the June meme is shared every year with great affection for Leslie and certainly not ridicule. | |

| I saw Miss Uggams in HALLELUJAH BABY, HER FIRST ROMAN(3 x), and as Desiree in ALNM at Michigan Opera theater (co-star was Ron Raines). She was wonderful in all three shows, tho the quality of the material varied. I also remember her winning on Name that Tune, which was required viewing for our Family. I keep hoping she'll win another Tony, so she can accept the award with having 'additional dialogue' from Groucho Marx. | |
