TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

Since its publication in 1960, Harper Lee’s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD has won the Pulitzer Prize, has been made into a classic film, has sold more than 45 million copies and has never been out of print, is the second best-selling book in the world (after the Bible), has been translated into 40 languages, and has remained one of the most influential and beloved books of modern American literature. And yet the story has never come to Broadway – until now. The brilliant writer, Aaron Sorkin (Academy Award winner for The Social Network and multiple Emmy Award winner for “The West Wing”), has adapted the book into a new play, working hand-in-hand with Tony-winning director, Bartlett Sher.

The enduring story of racial injustice and childhood innocence centers on one of the most beloved and admired characters in American literature, the small-town lawyer Atticus Finch (Jeff Daniels). The unforgettable cast of players includes Atticus’s daughter Scout (Celia Keenan-Bolger), her brother Jem (Will Pullen), their visiting friend Dill (Gideon Glick), and their mysterious neighbor, the reclusive Arthur “Boo” Radley. The other indelible residents of Maycomb, Alabama will be brought to life on stage by LaTanya Richardson Jackson (as the Finch’s housekeeper, Calpurnia), Dakin Matthews (as Judge Taylor), Stark Sands (playing prosecutor Horace Gilmer), Fred Weller and Erin Wilhelmi (as Bob Ewell and his daughter Mayella Ewell), and Gbenga Akinnagbe (playing Tom Robinson).

Written during the early stages of the Civil Rights Movement — at a time when Jim Crow laws were still in effect in many Southern states — TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD holds up a mirror to the ingrained culture of racism in the Deep South. Almost sixty years later the story still resonates deeply.

We are joining forces with Scott Rudin (as we did for A View From The Bridge in 2015 and The Glass Menagerie last season) to bring this new play to Broadway. Your Member sale begins Monday, June 4 at 10am at the Shubert Theatre, through the Member Hotline, and online. Previews begin on Thursday, November 1 and Opening Night is Thursday, December 13.

What to Expect on Monday

On the morning of a Member on-sale, the easiest way to purchase your Member tickets is through the online portal.

In an effort to ease the online buying experience during busy on-sale days and help expedite transactions, Telecharge is now using a “virtual line” system. Here’s how it will work on Monday:

Member tickets for TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD will go on sale on Monday, June 4 at 10am. The online waiting room will open on Monday, June 4 at 9:30am.

When you go to log in to the Member Portal, you will automatically be placed in a virtual waiting room.
If you enter the waiting room between 9:30am and 10am, you will be assigned a random number in the queue at 10am when the on-sale starts, creating a digital line. It does not matter if you enter the waiting room at 9:31 or 9:59, it will not affect what number in line you receive.
If you arrive after 10am, you will be placed at the end of the digital line.
If you visit the Member Portal before 9:30am, you will be able to log in as normal to renew your membership or purchase tickets to a different show. You must complete your renewal or other purchasing before the waiting room opens at 9:30! At that time, all activity on the Member portal will be cut off and you will automatically be placed in the waiting room.
Please note: Once you are in the digital line, you should not navigate away from the page, or you will lose your place in line. When it’s your turn to buy tickets, you will be automatically re-directed to the Member log in page. You'll then have 15 minutes to log in to your account.

If you want to purchase in person or by phone, please be prepared for long wait times at the Shubert Theatre Box Office and busy signals when calling the Member Hotline. You can avoid the initial line at the Box Office by coming in the afternoon; phone lines often free up after 1pm as well.

Please contact info@lct.org if you need further assistance. Thank you in advance for your patience!
