Mueller's win is no surprise. History shows that the overwhelmingly number of Drama Desk winners come from Broadway shows.
I doubt that enough of the DD voters saw Park in ''KPOP'' or Jimenez or Rubin-Vega in ''Miss You Like Hell,'' both limited Off-Broadway runs.
Even if the Public got enough DD voters in to ''Miss You Like Hell,'' Jimenez and Rubin-Vega could've split some votes.
So it was between the two Broadway contenders: Mueller and LaChanze. ''Carousel'' had 12 DD nominations; ''Summer,'' only 1.
''Carousel'' was better reviewed than ''Summer'' and had more nominations, so Mueller benefited.
It would've been a different race if the 8 Drama Desk nominators also nominated Ambrose and Kilgore (both Tony nominees), but that's showbiz.
The Tony race will be more competitive with 6 nominees, but it looks like it'll be a showdown between Lenk and Ambrose.
