It's a Scott Rudin production and they always start with designating most of the orchestra as premium. What I intend to do, as I always do with his productions, is buy a seat now - I already got row P in the center - and replace it with tickets to another performance, 72 hours in advance of that performance (which you can do, as an LCT member.) There are a lot of performances in which premium are turned to regular. I started with Carousel in the front mezzanine and switched to Orchestra Center row E. Made that switch two days before a random performance, when I saw that tickets are available. Same thing with Bette in Dolly. Less than $200 for row F, dead center.

royscho, that's why I finally bought the date/seat I did; the one I haven't isn't terrible, but I figured that I could try to upgrade a few days prior, either for that day or a day or the day before.

You'd want to do that in person, right? What a hassle.

No need to do it in person, and not a hassle. Just a phone call.

twocents, with great affection, I have to ask you, have you had more caffeine this morning than you usually do? I'm thrilled that your situation worked out so well for you, I really am, just as I feel bad for all those who were constantly kicked out, but you seem to be rather....gleeful...about others' bad luck (and I don't consider myself one of the others, I did fine). In any event, yay, you! And I feel for the rest of you.

It always feels like the Kentucky Derby for me on a sale day. I know what the short end feels like, so I savor the "win." I concede that it's oddly bizarre to be so excited to spend money, at the end of the day.

No, not bizarre at all. Just exemplifies how challenging the process typically is that one good seat feels like the Powerball.

Assuming that few people went to the Shubert BO, and the fact that the phone lines were completely down, it appears that everyone was forced to do this online.

Work that system! I read the post, and would still be disinclined to try to pull that off. Hats off.
