| I bet she'd be a terrific Dolly Levi...she was perfection as Muzzy in THROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE for most of the run when she replaced Sheryl Lee Ralph in the role. I actually preferred Uggams to Ralph. One of the times I went, I took my mother and Mom was thrilled to see Uggams, and told me all about watching her, billed as "Little" Leslie Uggams, on television when she was a girl. Mom very much admired one of Uggams' gowns in the show (I think her costumes were different from Ralph's) and I wrote to Martin Pakledinaz, in care of the production, to ask if there were any patterns available or anything that I could use to have something similar made for my mother as a gift. No response, of course. I wasn't really expecting one. |
