...made all the wittier and more enjoyable thanks to the always sterling stewardship of host Peter Filichia. Guests were encouraged to don tropical island wear in keeping with the sandy stage at Circle in the Square. Wonderful to see Glenda Jackson, Bernadette Peters, Lea Salonga and other luminaries bestow this venerable welcome to the New York theater scene to a dozen award-worthy actors. Presenter Wesley Taylor and recipient Denise Gough were comedic highlights, along with musical performances by Philip Boykin and Nicholas Barasch. And the John Willis Award went to one of my all-time favorites, Victor Garber.
It was a fabulous afternoon. |
