| Its outdoors. With microphones. So why do Shakespeare in the Park actors so frequently shout? | |

| I think it takes a while to find its urgency, but it becomes much better once it picks up steam after the sluggish and less-than-focused introductory scenes (at least in its first week of performances). In my opinion the two leads aren’t well matched. I found Corey Stoll’s Iago to be far stronger than Chikwudi Iwuji’s Othello. The Emilia (sorry, forget the actress’s name) was very interesting, and I thought the bedroom scene was well done (though the strangling is kind of odd. Sort of death by Heimlich maneuver). But the play, of course, is endlessly fascinating—this hate that simply exists at the start of the play and drives the whole plot. I’ve been thinking about it a lot over the past week. |

| Iago is the better role. Always has been. That's why Plummer stole the show from James Earl Jones, and , for my money, Frank Finlay stole it from Olivier. |

| My performance was halted at 10:25pm due to heavy rain. What happens after that (in terms of action like killing, etc)? The show still gets out at 11:05pm? Is all the violence in the last 40 minutes? Is it really gory like most of the recent Delacorte shows? Or more subdued? | |
