| The Tony Awards is not the place for anyone to state their political agenda. It is a place for "Broadway" to show the world what it has to offer. If anyone who stepped in front of that mike last night wanted to state their political beliefs, let them, with their own money, rent some prime television time. This way, they can pontificate as much as they wish. As far as DeNiro goes, he could have made his point in a more classy manner. His "shock value" speech was disgusting. Does he really eat with that mouth? Also, I didn't get the feeling that the show gave the impression that any high school student is ready for Broadway. I worked in a local high school drama department for many years and never felt that the kids felt that they were ready for Broadway. |
