| There is a documentary about Chita Rivera's career that I recently DVR'd -- it was either a Great Performances, Live from Lincoln Center, or PBS special. It showed clips of many of her TV appearnces on innumerable (probably forgotten) TV variety shows (in addition to the ones you mention). I also saw a concert/interview type show with Chita and Seth Rudetsky (at Steppenwolf) in which she discussed a lot of the shows she toured in and regional productions she appeared in -- occasionally in roles where she was laughably miscast. I got the impression she took these jobs because she's a hard worker and wanted to stay active. Despite her long career, she never became a star like Gwen Verdon or even Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters. |
