| If you thought the Lindsey Crouse Libretto took liberties, this one is even stranger.(2015 with Matthew McFadyen as the Baron).It's all told from the viewpoint of Agatha Von Trapp....In real life, the Trapps told friends they were taking their annual camping trip in the Alps, and then they just walked into Italy......One anecdote from the book that I had hoped would make it into the SOM film, During Anschluss every one was told to hang Nazi banners from the windows, etc. When the Nazi inspector asked the Baron why he wasn't displaying the Nazi flag, the Baron said "All that red,It's two Loud.If you like, We have some lovely Persian rugs. I'll hang those out of the windows". |
