| It's not just you. I haven't heard the recording, but I remarked here when I saw the production last month that Ambrose has a habit of singing behind the beat. This works well for "I Could Have Danced all Night" which I found quite touching. But in the fiery numbers ("Just You Wait", "Show Me") it resulted in a lazy rhythm which robbed the renditions of the requisite fire and energy. This would explain why you felt the tempo to be too slow. It wasn't the actual tempo, it was the lack of rhythmic presence. |
