| One thing that I find interesting about HAIRSPRAY (and some might consider this a criticism) is the complete lack of any real conflict in the show. The leading lady wants to dance on a TV show, and she goes and does it. She wants to date the cute boy she's crushing on, she does. She wants to get her mother out of the house, she does. She wants to integrate the TV show, and she does. There are no serious setbacks or impossible walls to climb. Tracy just decides she wants to do something and it happens. |
