And yet in the early years of the awards, they managed to get it all done in 90 minutes. Admittedly, it usually ran over, and there are more awards now, but most of those awards are not being seen by the home audience anyway. Now they include numbers from the nominated musical revivals, and there wasn't even a revival category till the mid-1970s (and at first it covered both plays and musicals). But in 1968-69 they managed to included scenes from two of the nominated plays as well as all four musicals (with two big numbers from one of those musicals). It's crazy that they can't manage to get in more of the awards in three hours.
