I do find that Julie Andrews on the London recording has started to take on some of Rex Harrison's sprechstimme in some of her songs at times, with some declaiming rather than singing, and he possibly actually sings "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" as bit more than on the OCR. On the latest recording, Lauren Ambrose has a lovely voice, but she sounds as if though she is giving a rather careful performance; perhaps Ambrose has been warned the role has given many performers lots of trouble in the past, but Julie Andrews really sounds electric in the part. Mr. Hadden-Paton sings more of the score and quite nicely, though it's not as distinctive or rich a singing voice as Mr. Harrison's rather rangy speaking voice.
