I shouldn't have said "out of print". The '56 album was a single sleeve with a white cover and that seal in the corner that said Original Broadway Cast Recording. When I began looking for a replacement record (probably in '65), all of the stores I went to carried the '59 recording, which was a gatefold album. Instead of the white seal in the corner, I think it had a star instead that read Original Cast Recording. I remember multiple salespeople telling me that this was the OBC recording; however, I remember on the rear side of the album it said something like "recorded in London, 1959". Anyway I couldn't find a store that also had the '56 album so I eventually bought the London one. I was only 16 at the time and I don't think I noticed any difference in performance or sound quality.

Some years later I did buy the '56 recording on 8-track, which I was able to play in my car. My Fair Lady was the only 8-track I ever purchased -- eventually I wore it out.
