Both the Met Museum and Natural History Museum have agreements that do not allow set prices for NY residents for entry.
Here we now see an offer at the Delacorte to "purchase tickets" at a set price under false guise of "donation." The "donations" at the Met Museum and Natural History Museum do not come with set prices. The "donation" can be as low as one penny -- and they will accept that. Both of those non-profit organizations benefit from the public lands they occupy. Perhaps, like Tavern on the Green, the Delacorte pays rent to the City for use of the public lands. I don't believe the Met or Natural History Museum pay any land rent. It's similar to the Public Library at 42nd Street. It's FREE because the city owns the land. |
