I think perhaps she would have won in 1966 if not for an interview she gave to Rex Reed in which she said things that bothered some people. Admittedly, everyone knew that Reed had a talent for getting people to say things that might cause strong negative reactions.

In 1985, I'm not sure there really was a front-runner. There were four strong nominees, with Cusack perhaps the dark horse, if there was one.

The other times she was nominated, I think her chances of winning were slim to nil.
