She said a lot. :) The thing that caused a letter to be sent to the Times was her going on about how much she hated being in Marat/Sade, how annoyed she was that the run had been extended, how she couldn't wait for it to be over, and that everyone in the cast felt as she did. On the positive side, she said that she loved America, and that there were no actresses in England as exciting as Kim Stanley and Geraldine Page. But she also complained about how awful commercial theatre in London was, and how miserable she'd been when she'd been in Alfie for three months.
Anyway, you can imagine how people might not have wanted to vote for her to receive a Tony after she'd given an interview in which she said that she loathed doing the play and couldn't wait for the run to be over. |
