| I’ve seen and really enjoyed all of Joshua Harmon’s other plays, but I can’t say the same for Skintight. I thought the actor playing the Calvin Klein based character was miscast and wrong for the part. I didn’t think Idina Menzel has good enough comic timing for the role. The only actor that really worked for me was the one playing the son/grandson. Unlike his other plays—certainly Significant Other and Admissions—which start out superficially but then end up drilling down into their subject matter—Skintight seemed to meander. Plot threads were raised and then lost. The audience response was mixed—some people loved it and others (including the man who shouted out in a quiet moment—this play is excrutiatingly bad) didn’t. |
